Since 1981, OPTO International, Inc. has been manufacturing quality retail store fixtures and display systems in the United States. What started as a small venture with a patented tube-and-connector device to connect space frames together gradually and methodically blossomed into an entire store solution for freestanding fixtures, wall systems, and graphic expressions.

The introduction of the Visual Builder® system in 1997 was a great step forward for the company. Their engineers designed a modular graphic system that could turn heads with the capability of angling graphic panels, or rotating them a full 90 degrees – turning them into a lightweight shelf. The ability to bring product displays into a graphic system was something that few could offer.

In 1997, OPTO International, Inc. introduced its flagship line: The Options Collection®. This modular system was designed with all of the key retail needs in mind, including style, strength and flexibility. The Options Collection®’s modular design allowed for multiple applications of the same product. Accessories could be used across the line of retail fixtures and wall systems, giving retailers the opportunity for change. The system’s components are kept in inventory unfinished, and are finished to customer specification, allowing for both complete customization and quick delivery. Customers have the flexibility of choosing finials, casters or levelers, panel types and patterns, paint color and accessories.

The Options Collection® has become very popular. This led to several additions to the collection, allowing even more flexibility within the system. More panel types, including perforated and expanded metal panels, were added. These metal panels spurred an entirely new line of accessories that can be attached directly to the panels themselves, which gives customers the added flexibility of creating a display for smaller items. A new line of curved shelving and accessories complemented existing fixtures. The introduction of Post Units and Post Wall Systems into the Options Collection® line added shelving flexibility and accessory choices for smaller fixtures and simpler wall displays.

In 2001, The Basics Collection™ was introduced as a daughter line to the Options Collection®. The Basics Collection™ provides the same ideals of flexibility, strength and style, but is offered in a smaller economical package with less finishing options and fewer accessory choices. This gives companies with strict budgets the ability to have a great modular system with less expense.

In 2003, The Options Collection® was expanded to include several fixture styles: Classic (the original fixture design), Edge (a new, sleek fixture line) and Basic (full integration of the original Basics Collection™). This integration led to a fixture line so versatile that it could be used for almost every retail application. Although different in visual style, all fixture styles in The Options Collection® share a common set of shelves and accessories and are available in any color and panel option.

The OPTO Quick Ship Program was introduced in 2006 to provide the beauty of OPTO fixtures in an incredibly fast lead time. These pre-configured units from The Options Collection® are available in a special section of the web site (www.optosystem.com/quickship) and can ship in 10 business days. The program has proven ideal for both new stores and existing customers who need to order more fixtures or accessories.

As time goes on, OPTO INTERNATIONAL, INC. has consistently worked to improve the flexibility of existing products to meet the demands of its customers. Because of its respected free design service, OPTO engineers and CAD designers are able to keep up with changing trends and new ideas.
